Been invited to join MyLegalAdviser and ready to create your account? Super!
Just follow the link in the email we sent you to complete the form and create your account. It shouldn’t take more than a few minutes (especially if you already have a firm profile you can crib from).
Step 1: Your details
The first step is to enter the details for the person who will operate and be featured on the account. Clients overwhelmingly react better to individuals, so the account should be in the name of a person (not the business). If you're not sure who this should be, check out our Guide to Choosing an Account Holder.
Clients will see the name, email address and phone number you enter here, so make sure you're happy for clients to contact you using these.
Step 2: Firm & professional details
The next step is to enter the firm and professional details for the person who will be in the account.
If the firm is virtual-style firm, select virtual firm in Firm Type (this allows lawyers from the same firm to compete for client jobs).
Enter your main office location, this will be used to match you with clients jobs. You can add further locations once your account is created.
Step 3: Select your specialisms
Select all the specialisms you offer (we do verify profiles before they go live so make sure you cover all the areas you say you do).
Step 4: Complete your bio
Clients will see this when reviewing your profile, so make sure it stands out and tells the clients what's great about you and why you're such an expert in the areas you offer.
Individual lawyers can usually take most of this from their profile, but may want to tweak things to sell their service more to prospective clients.
Accounts where a partner will cover multiple areas of work may want to focus on the experience that partner and the firm has, as well as the general firm ethos and way they work with clients.
Step 5: Upload a profile picture
Lastly, upload a profile picture for the individual on the account. Once uploaded, ensure the picture fits in the white circle and click Save when done.
If you don't want clients to be able to find your profile via the site (not recommended), click the first checkbox.
You must agree to our Terms to sign up for our service, so click the second checkbox if you're happy to proceed.
When you're done, click the submit button!
Saving & editing your profile
You can save your progress at any time by clicking the Save And Exit button in the top right. Returning to our site on the same device will allow you to resume the account creation process by clicking the Complete Profile button at the top right of the screen.
Once your profile is submitted, we'll verify you and notify you when it's live. You can edit your profile in Settings > My Details.
