The MyLegalAdviser enquiry process is a blind quoting process. No lawyer who quotes, or is eligible to quote, on an enquiry will be aware of any other lawyers’ quotes and no preferential treatment is given to any lawyer.
Here's how the enquiry process works:
Step 1 - Enquiry posted
Once the enquiry is posted, we match the enquiry with suitable lawyers based on location and specialism.
Lawyers are notified by email that a new enquiry has been submitted.
Step 2 - Lawyers review enquiry
The first 5 quotes submitted for an enquiry will be sent to the client.
Step 3 - Users review quotes
Each time a new quote is received, users are notified by email and they can review the details of the quote and the submitting lawyer's profile.

Step 4 - Users shortlist lawyers
If/when a user decides they like a quote, they can shortlist it by clicking the + Shortlist button next to the quote in their dashboard.
Clicking this button immediately notifies the lawyer that the client is interested in working with them and exchanges details.
Shortlisted lawyers will pay our shortlist fee at this point.
Length of quotes process
Enquiries will expire:
- when they receive 5 quotes; or
- after 5 working days,
whichever comes first.
Clients usually go with one of the first quotes submitted, so it pays to get your quote in early.
If no quotes are received within a couple of working days of submission of the job, we may discount the shortlist fee to attract interest. Where we do this we'll let you know and update the enquiry card to show it has a reduced fee.
