If you've been accepted onto MyLegalAdviser then we already know you're a great lawyer...but it's not us you need to convince!
So how do you set yourself apart from the competition? The best way is with a fantastic introduction message (the message you submit when expressing interest in a job).
Your message should let the client know you are keen on the work and give a reason for them to choose you over the competition. An effective message should include:
- An introduction to you / your firm
- Your key selling points (experience, qualifications, awards, level of service, etc.)
- Your availability to commence work
- A quote for your fees (if you feel comfortable giving one) or an offer of a consultation
- A direct and friendly request to be shortlisted for the work
For example: Hi, my name is John and I'm a partner at Divorce Lawyers LLP. I'm a solicitor with over 30 years' experience representing clients in divorce proceedings and am listed as a Top Divorce Practitioner in Chambers & Partners. My priority is to make sure my clients feel supported throughout the divorce process. I keep my clients up to date on a weekly basis and promise not to overwhelm them with legal jargon. Our typical fees for a job of this type would be £2,000 - £3,000 (exc VAT), but I suggest we have a free telephone consultation at your earliest convenience following which I can then give you a firmer fee estimate. Please shortlist me if you'd like to take things forwards. With best wishes, John
Cover the above, be friendly and professional, and you should have plenty of opportunities come your way.
